PROJECTS

PROJECT 1 : ART NOVEAU

Group 18
Progression Overview
For our very first project for this module, we were required to select an architectural era among the given selection and my choice among the selection was art noveau as among the others was the one that really had me interested to understand more of its element and analyzing the entire background behind each and every parts that underwent a journey of creative process to form to what is known as the "art noveau" style.
Once my group members formed the group, we came to conclusion that our choice of building was the casa batllo by Antoni Gaudi located in Barcelona. The overall appearance of the building was something that I have never imagined could have come to life from its color scheme to the animal-like structures in the interior and exterior of the building. Once we had our choice of building, we divided our roles and began working on the project by conducting relevant researches and compiled into our booklet and poster.

Project Reflection
Reflecting on my progression alongside my group mates throughout this project, it was a learning journey for not only myself but for all of us as a group to group and refine our skills to carry on future projects with more confidence and knowledge to perform the expected outcome of each task given. What I learned through this project was the importance of time management and proper planning before head starting the project to ensure a clear understanding and direction of each and every role which does not only apply to a leader but the responsibility of the entire team. Speaking from experience, it was quite hectic at the start of this project as the main progression of our progress only officially started on Week 4 which was quite closely dated to our deadline of this project. it may have a stressful journey from reworking the posters on and on and figuring our the functions to create AR features but our entire team has truly made the effort of results we are proud to showcase. From here on marking the end of this assignment, the skills and knowledge in carrying this project will not only allow my to grow myself but also perform more confidently to deliver projects whether individually or professionally.

PROJECT 2 : SKETCHING ANALYSIS

Overview
The aim of this project is to conduct a comparative analysis by diagramming and introducing basic principles of form space, order in the architectural designs. We are required to choose a total of 5 historical buildings in Malaysia that was built anytime between 1950-1965and no site visits were required to complete this project.

Choice of Buildings :

Project Reflection
Throughout carrying out my task for this project, it was a learning curve for me to the final results of my work due to my limitations in knowledge on architecture as a design student which I had concerns on whether I was on the right path to meet the requirement and guidelines of this assignment. However, with Dr Camilla's guidance throughout the weeks of carrying this assignment, it was assuring and helpful feedback given on my work to progress to the final stage of my work. From this experience, I was able to better understanding the conditions to analyzing a building from an architectural point of view which was truly amazing to actually see each and every elements and structures on the buildings I have seen in person but had not noticed until then which has gain my respect towards the architect who have carefully designed and brought this architectural pieces to life. Besides that, I have also learned the importance of discipline in order to carry out this assignment. Despite the long period of time given to us to complete this project, it takes a lot of discipline to show up and progress smoothly and carefully analyze each and every detail to be included into each poster. Rather than procrastinating, I am glad that I made gradual progressions each week to allow myself to ensure I am satisfied with the final outcome of each poster. From here on marking the end of this assignment, the skills and knowledge in carrying this project will not only allow my to grow myself but also perform more confidently to deliver projects whether individually or professionally.

REFLECTION

General
Throughout this module, it was really insightful to take this module as an elective that is different from what I usually study throughout my design course where I got to learn how an analysis of each building is conducted from an architecture point of view from not only analyzing its elements but also study its shape how it has evolve to modern days and symbolism applied in each era as the world evolves. It was a really interesting point of view to understand how each factor contributes to an architecture in general. Despite this field of topic being completely different from my field of study but I strongly believe the knowledge gained from architecture history and theory would greatly benefit me in particularly environment studies while modeling an environment in animation projects or similar. There not much challenges I have faced throughout this module but mostly towards my uncertainty as the classes or projects may vary from my course. However, this module was extremely exciting to learn more about architectures and the skills I have gained would not only benefit me professional in my field of expertise but also contribute to my self-growth.

Learning Platforms

Hybrid Lecture & Tutorial

With the flexibility of time given to take our lectures, it was really convenient to have options in order to learn at our own comfort. However, the physical lectures by Mr Azim and Dr Bashira was really engaging and fun which gave me the motivation and encouragement to want to learn more which was a great approach to lectures allowing me to be more focused.

myTimes

Overall UI and arrangement of each week's material was clear and organized allowing for easy access and findings of materials. However, some lecture slides provided were different from the presented ones which was slightly confusing during lectures to refer to.

Noodle Factory

Exercises for each topic were really insightful and test our knowledge on each topic.

Telegram

Announcements were really convenient to access and ensures that I do not miss any important notices for each respective week.

Tutor & Module Coordinator

Dr Filzani - Module Coordinator

Throughout the semester, Dr Filzani was very engaging and really communicated well with students. Whenever I have any doubts or concern, Dr Filzani prompt response was really helpful in allowing me to reassuringly carry out the required task. It was truly an honour to have Dr Filzani as our module coordinator for this semester and extend my gratitude to Dr Filzani for her patience and guidance.

Dr Camilla - Tutorial Lecturer

Despite not having the opportunity to see Dr Camilla throughout the semester, the feedback sessions and guidance whenever I had any concerns was very helpful in allowing me to smoothly progress through each project with confidence. As I am from a different school from architecture, Dr Camilla had always reassured me on my progressions which was the main reason I was able to complete each and every task throughout this module.
