REFLECTION
Experience
Reflecting on my journey throughout this module was a challenging process in producing designs that meets the requirements of the module and my personal goals as a designer. Each task of this module has equipped me with valuable skills and knowledge to improve to become a better designer professionally. Not only design skills relating to my field but also soft skills gained as a student which will allow me to perform better both personally and professionally. Even though there were many challenges I have faced such as the several failed attempts in font extraction (Task 1) and typeface construction (Task 3), I strongly believe it is a stepping stone for me as a designer to learn and challenge myself.
Observation
Based on my observation throughout the 14 weeks of this module, the constant trial and error is an important process during the entire phase of designing whether it is designing a typeface, poster or others, this process allows constant improvement in my opinion as I was able to push myself further is designing an outcome that I am satisfied with and meets the requirement of the task as well. Apart from that, time management regardless of one's occupation or position is also an extremely important factor as time should be used wisely and with full discipline. This is because using time wisely allows me to be able to produce a more qualitative work rather than completing a design for the sake of meeting deadlines which often results in a low quality work.
Findings
My findings through this module are the refined skills and knowledge gained through this advanced module as it not only challenges me to design using the skills from Typography but also goes beyond the basics to create something unique and different. The guidance of my lecturer has also allowed me to improve my designs towards the correct direction. Besides that, not only have I gained designing skills relating to my field but also soft skills such as time management and discipline is important to progress as a person individually and professionally. I strongly believe the skills and knowledge gained throughout this module will allow me to perform better in my future career.
