EXERCISE 2 : SOUND SHAPING

2. Sound Shaping
Based on practical video on sound shaping exercise, the graphs and reverbs of respective audio are adjusted to meet the requirements of each type of sound shaping.

a) Phone Call
Figure 2.13 Phone Call EQ Figure 2.12 Raw Audio Recorded (Week 10, 24/06/2024)

b) Muffled
Figure 2.14 Muffled EQ Figure 2.12 Raw Audio Recorded (Week 10, 24/06/2024)

c) Stadium
Figure 2.15 Stadium Reverb Figure 2.12 Raw Audio Recorded (Week 10, 24/06/2024)
The goal while adjusting the reverbs is to create more echo effect like how the sound comes out thought the speakers of a stadium and it is more reflective.

d) Toilet
Figure 2.16 Toilet Reverb Figure 2.12 Raw Audio Recorded (Week 10, 24/06/2024)

The goal for toilet reverb to adjust into a sound with echo but minimum reflective effect and more absorbent which results in a sound effect slightly absorbed but still contain the echos.

e) Cave
Figure 2.17 Cave Reverb Figure 2.12 Raw Audio Recorded (Week 10, 24/06/2024)

As for the cave reverb, the goal behind this is a fully absorbed sound with a certain amount of echo because inside an enclosed cave usually reflects a silence ambience where the sound is completely absorbed but still able to produce echos.

REFLECTION

Reflecting throughout this project, I observed that the excel sheet that breaks down the overall scenes in the movie is important to be clear about all the details and ensuring all materials are organized for a better reference to complete the project. It has guided me and allowed me to align to the breakdown in the sheet by avoiding any confusion in dubbing the video. Additionally, through this exercise I was able to be familiarized around the tools and controls in Premiere Pro which will benefit me in future lessons and in my career path. Using Adobe Audition for the first has also allowed to learn skills that will be helpful in terms of sound effects and etc. Exploring the different points in the EQ graph and reverb was really interesting to learn and create different sound effects in different atmosphere/effect/ambience.
