Figure 2.5 Title Sketch
Keyword : Traditional, Modern
My idea to design the title of the book is to highlight and emphasize of both keywords through its original element with traditional is cursive italics and modern with a bold font.
Figure 2.6 Cover Page Sketch
Ideation :
(1) A modern and minimalistic background image as the overall aesthetic direction of the design is simple and minimalistic. With a semi transparent background to place the text.
(2) Similar to (1) but with an extra colored strip on the left of the cover.
(3) A more perspective approach that directly reflects the title of the book where a traditional pencil sketch drawing walks through a door that represents the modern animation with the character turning into a more solid color drawing. The title of the cover is also drawn in a perspective point of view.
(4) A similar idea in (3) but character runs from left (sketch drawing character and paper background) to the right (consisting of modern animation characters compiled together) representing a sketch drawing which are traditional animation films moving towards the characters representing the direction of modern animation films.
(5) Without manipulating the original design of the title, the "o" in the word "modern" shines the spotlight on a character in a solid drawing (representing modern animation films) while the background will be a contrast to the spotlight area to show a modern animation character within the world of traditional animation films.
(6) Incorporating the fun of circular geometric shapes with the title design.
