LECTURES
Week 1
Brief introduction on the overview of this module, exercises throughout the module. An additional exercise on The Bezier Game was given to get to know and practice the function and usage of the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator.
Week 2
We were introduced to Adobe Illustrator by learning to trace an image with different types of shapes provided and creating our own character based on our own creativity using the we learned to trace.
Week 3
During Week 3, we learned how to trace and outline the object from the image with both the brush tool and pen tool. Additionally, we also learned how to create shadows and changing colors of an object in AI which can be seen in the exercise below (Week 3).
Week 4
In Week 4, we proceeded with colors and blending while applying the techniques we learned from the previous class. By creating the silhouette and shadow of the traced image, we learned how to add textures to the image and using colors to create contrast between the background and outlined object as seen in the image in exercises (Week 4).
Week 6
Briefing on upcoming assignment, Editorial Layout. What is expected and its topic, urban legend and art style, art deco. The additional time of the class is given for us to complete Vormator Character Design and as a QnA session for the Vormator Character Design.

An exercise of learning how to use pen tool to create basic shapes that will construct the character designs.
Week 3 - 11/10/2023
Light Shadow

Using the image provided, I have traced out the pear and its shadow, where it is then sliced in to four and an additional color is added to the pear which shows the inner part of the fruit. Next, the fruit is rearranged in different directions and more colors is added to the fruit.The exercise is followed by another tracing exercise where I traced the outline of the skull onto the pear along with its shadow.

In Figure 6.7, I have researched some references for my background from Pinterest which portrays a fantasy-like and moonlight-like theme images.

Using the pen tools in Adobe Illustrator, I have drafted out a rough sketch of my background.

As seen in the image above, the elements seen in the background is mainly created using the pen tool in Adobe Illustrator whereas the clouds uses the teardrop shape combined.

Above is the final vormator character on the pokemon card for submission. The overall idea of my Vormator Character is based on a fantasy yet dreamy style applied to the character, also aiming for a gentle appearance as well.
