LECTURES
Week 5 - 26/10/2023
Learning to create double exposure images which in the past, uses cameras to take two shots at once generally consisting on a portrait and a scenery image. The double exposure will help completing our upcoming project on double exposure. Therefore, we were tasked to look up for reference as a direction to complete our project on double exposure.
Week 7 - 09/11/2023
Week 7 consists of exercises of displacing in Photoshop. There are a total of 3 exercises completed in order to grasp the skill of displacing an image to the desired image. After the displacement exercise, I have presented my sketch and reference for both photo manipulation and double exposure project to proceed with the editing in Photoshop.
Week 9 - 23/11/2023
In Week 9, the exercise and skills learned is turning a human into cyborg parts where we begin by masking of a part of the leg and replacing it with a cyborg part. We also learned to create synthetic skin to match the cyborg part of the leg using pen tool and effects applied to it. After cyborg exercise is completed, a feedback session for Project 2 is conducted before our submission.

EXERCISES
Week 7 - 09/11/2023
Project 2 - Double Exposure
2.1 Double Exposure Reference
Figure 2.1 shows the reference/art direction for my double exposure exercise.
Figure 2.2 Self-Portrait (Week 7, 09/11/2023)
My self-portrait for double exposure project where I have taken my portrait in the angle and position similarly to my references.
Figure 2.3 First Attempt on Double Exposure Project (Week 7, 09/11/2023)
Week 9 - 23/11/2023
First attempt of double exposure is wrong and does not apply to double exposure, it is rather more suitable for final project.
Figure 2.4 Background Images
Figure 2.4 shows the images sourced on Pinterest to be used for my double exposure project.
Figure 2.5 Masked Layer (Week 9, 23/11/2023)
My portrait is masked and refined.
Figure 2.6 Edits (Week 9, 23/11/2023)
Based on my portraits, I have masked the area of my face slightly and lowered the opacity to let both images blended together.
Figure 2.7 Final Double Exposure Outcome (Week 9, 23/11/2023)
After receiving feedback for my first attempt on double exposure. Figure 2.7 shows my 2nd attempt in double exposure project where it is done in a more simple manner and applies the requirements of a double exposure image.
Based on Mr Martin's feedback, overall double exposure is good and final submission can be either Double Exposure 1 or 3.

Project 2 - Photo Manipulation
Week 7 - 09/11/2023
1. Sketch
Figure 2.9 Sketch of Photo Manipulation (Week 7, 09/11/2023)
Above shows the sketch of my idea for photo manipulation.
The first idea on the fish is to replace the fish body with either a currypuff or a gyoza dumpling. My second sketch for photo manipulation is a highland cattle joined with a willow tree as its body.
2. Digitization

Edit 1 : White fish + Gyoza Dumpling
Edit 2 : Brown fish + Curry Puff
Edit 3-5 : Highland Cattle + Willow Tree
Week 9 - 23/11/2023
After feedbacks were given, I have taken the feedbacks into my work and made amendments to it. Based on Mr Martin's feedback, the origin/habitat of the willow tree should be included into the edit as mentioned in the feedback that both elements must make sense together and not combined together with no meaning. Additionally, to improve my work, the head of the highland cattle.

FEEDBACKS
Week 7 - 09/11/2023
Sample works of double exposure is good and acceptable, it can be used as a reference to work on my double exposure project.
Idea of sketch is good. Sketch 1 & 2 is an interesting idea to test out.
Week 9 - 23/11/2023
1st Feedback :
Edit 1 & 2 - It does not apply the skills of photo manipulation at all. Double exposure is an image that takes a portrait and a scenery/background combined together and the outcome should look like both images is blended with each other. There should not be too much elements added into a double exposure edit. Look up more examples of double exposure to get how double exposure is. As a designer, it is important to have have an art direction to work with.
Edit 1 & 2 - It does not make sense together and composition must be something random but make sense together. Overall it is a bad photoshop work.
Edit 3 & 5 - Feedbacks similar to Edit 1 & 2 on combining the image that makes sense
Edit 4 - Better but as mention before that both images must make sense together.
2nd Feedback :
All double exposure edit is good, can proceed to submit with either Double Exposure 1 or 3.
Must include the background/habitat of the willow tree and reduce the size of the cattle's head.
REFLECTION
In Project 2, I have faced certain challenges while carrying out my tasks for Project 2. At first, I was unsure of how an expected outcome of double exposure should look like, hence I have research thoroughly in order to grasp the concept of a double exposure image and with the guidance of Mr Martin. It was interesting to complete the photo manipulation project as it was something I have never done before and the idea of combining 2 elements to become one is interesting which I felt that it tests my creativity of combining 2 elements together while bearing in my mind that both must make sense together and not just combining 2 elements with no consideration. I have learned how to edit a double exposure image and manipulate photos through this project.
