Introduction to Digital Photography and Imaging and module briefing giving us a general idea of what to expect in this module. Brief on projects needed to complete to pass this module including platforms to find inspiration to design such as Pinterest. We were given a task to look for 3 pictures we like that are photoshopped from Pinterest and briefly explain why we like the pictures we chose.
Week 3 - Introduction to Photoshop
In Week 3, we were taught the basics on using Photoshop before commencing our task on Project 1 creating digital collages. With the variety of images provided, we are tasked to create a total of 3 collages and all 3 will be presented in the following week.
Week 4 - Blending Mode
In the Heart Mansion exercise, I was able to learn to insert an image into another PS file, matching both image colors, creating its shadow and reflection as well as applying the effects to the image to produce a more realistic outcome. In Figure 4.5, this is my attempt in applying the correct technique to the image. Learning to use gradient and blending tools in Photoshop and apply the methods learned to the images provided. With the techniques learned from the breakdown of digital imaging, we are tasked to apply the same technique onto our second Project where we are required to take a photograph of ourselves at eye level in include into the shazam image. With the same technique applied, I edit my image and apply the correct colorization. I have also received constructive feedback on my digital collage designs where Layout #1 and #2 does not apply the technique of a "surreal" digital collage but Layout #3 does.
Week 5 - Double Exposure
Learning to create double exposure images which in the past, uses cameras to take two shots at once generally consisting on a portrait and a scenery image. The double exposure will help completing our upcoming project on double exposure. Therefore, we were tasked to look up for reference as a direction to complete our project on double exposure.
Week 6 - Recoloring
We learned how to recolor black and white images in Week 6 with the first image given the freedom to adjust to any colors just to gain an understanding on how to recolor images in Photoshop. The following image exercise were provided with other images as a color guidance to recolor the image. By using the eye dropper tool and brush tool, color swatches were placed in the image to apply the appropriate colors to the correct parts.
Week 7 - Displacement Method
Week 7 consists of exercises of displacing in Photoshop. There are a total of 3 exercises completed in order to grasp the skill of displacing an image to the desired image. After the displacement exercise, I have presented my sketch and reference for both photo manipulation and double exposure project to proceed with the editing in Photoshop.
Week 9 - Cyborg
In Week 9, the exercise and skills learned is turning a human into cyborg parts where we begin by masking of a part of the leg and replacing it with a cyborg part. We also learned to create synthetic skin to match the cyborg part of the leg using pen tool and effects applied to it. After cyborg exercise is completed, a feedback session for Project 2 is conducted before our submission.
Week 10 - Flower Face Effect
With the components and images provided, the flower face effect exercise requires us to create an effect of flowers growing out of a face a part of the face cropped out like a "mask". At the same time applying effects and patching up areas a give the flower face effect a more realistic outcome.
Week 11 - Animation in Photoshop
In Week 11, we completed exercises on how to animate videos in Photoshop with video timeline animations from images by animating its position, scale, rotation and more. We also did an exercise creating a gif using video frame and puppet warp feature in Photoshop by placing desired anchor points to parts of limbs we want to move.
Week 12 - Introduction to After Effects
Week 12 exercise introduces the features and basics of using after effects to animate a video with more advanced settings. Exercise completed involves the basics of moving its position, scale, rotation and applying other effects like motion blur to achieve a better outcome. We also completed an additional exercise by animating the Flower Face Effect completed on Week 10 by applying the skill set learned.
Week 13 - After Effects Parallax
Creating a 2.5D Parallax using the 3D layer tool and the camera angle feature in After Effects. After importing the PS file into AE, a camera angle layer is added and the background layer is scaled smaller. Video imported and scaled to the same size as the background layer. Then point of interest and position is activated at the camera angle where the camera angle is adjusted from here after selecting the orbit cursor tool. Frame is adjust and corners are filled using the motion tile with mirror edges and increasing output height and width.
Description: I like this image because it consists of simple components and it is photoshopped into a fantasy-like setting portraying a feeling of love from the little girls’ touch towards the bear. It gives me a sense of feeling where the bear may be big and fierce, the little girl shows it love similarly to the animation film "Brave".
Description: I chose this image because it is very creatively photoshopped where it is seen from a different perspective showing both perspective in the inside of the water and on the surface of the water. The picture gives a feeling of innocence from the child while trying to fish from his basket despite the room being filled by water.
Description: I chose this image because I like the way it expresses the spirit of the athletes during a game by using animals to express the athlete’s spirit along with the motion connecting both the spirit of the animal and athlete.
