When being forced to fit in a group of “friends”, Anika struggles to accept what she needs to do in order to realise she should be living a life accommodating to the needs of no one else but herself before she completely loses herself.
Synopsis
In Anika's life, she often felt lonely and needed others to be able to “show” herself even if it meant putting herself in situations that are uncomfortable. One day, her wishes finally came true to be a part of a group of “friends”. Anika was always invited to their outings where the group of friends would often spend long hours together, she was excited to “be apart” at first but little did she know as time passed the outings began draining her mentally and financially as it was never how Anika wanted to spend her entire day. Because of that, she could never bring herself to decline an invitation to join the group despite having other responsibilities and commitments in her life because they would often tell her that “the group will not be happy and complete without her”. until one day, Anika did not feel well and had no choice but to decline an invitation to the group’s outing. while she was out with her parents for a doctor’s appointment, she saw her group of friends, they were having fun..without her. she realised it did not matter to them if she was there. she distanced herself from them, she was hurt. While she was running an errand for her parents, she began to notice around her, there were people who valued solidarity alone, enjoying their favourite dish at their favourite restaurant or doing their favourite hobbies or activities alone. It made her realise that like these people, Anika herself could also
learn to respect herself and appreciate solidarity in her life. Ever since then, she realises she should be living a life accommodating to the needs of no one else but herself and her mindset was what is important in prioritising herself.

Once the raw animatics is completed, the video is brought into CapCut software to pair and align the sound effects according to the excel sheet. Additional frames at the start of the video is added in the intro and outro of the animatics. The entire raw animatics is also slowed down at 0.5x speed to ensure a smooth flow and sufficient timing to process each scene.

FEEDBACK
- continuity is not smooth and story can be developed into more panels
- facial expression helps in emphasizing the feeling of the character
alongside its colors
- most panels are wide shots, can focus on certain activities closeup.
S1 - focus on some activities in the surrounding / develop and expand
into more panels
S2
- in the art shop, closeups on her hands/activities & during the
workshop with the group of friends having fun together
- + panels of movie -> transition : swipe diagonal -> cafe (clear
indication of the sequence)
- text conversation can add in the character texting in the background and a
side panel of the text message that is still visible, additional focus of
expression when she is texting
- highlighting the text bubble as an important message to establish the
betrayal in behind scenes - the four of them sticks together very close
- shot 10-11 - major part - show how she eventually falls ill in the next
scene
- early scene can show a bit of anika feeling sick (sneeze, cough, etc)
- shot 18 onwards, show the continuity and how the ordeal has impact anika
- shot 20 is a major turning point for anika to decide why she changes her
mindset (expression/colors) how she comes to realization and learns
REFLECTION
Reflecting on my journey throughout this module was a rewarding and challenging experience. I enjoyed learning new skills as it allowed me to develop new skills set and knowledge as a design student in expanding my capabilities to understand the key points of developing a simple animatics from thumbnails into an actual animatics with a lot of trial and error to achieve the best outcome according to the knowledge gained throughout the semester. I learned the process of creating an animatics that has its flow and even just animating itself requires a lot of patience and time. Each project and exercise provided me with a new challenge and an opportunity to refine my skills, experiment with new techniques, and develop myself individually and professionally in this field. Overall, this module was a valuable and enriching learning experience.
