PROGRESSION

3. Breakdown Study
(Keyframing for Blocking)
Understand and marking contact pose and important frames to capture during
blocking.
Figure 2.2 Breakdown/Video Study
4. Progression 1 - Blocking
Based on the markers, the entire sequence is "blocked".

Week 13 - 16/07/2025
Action Animation
a. Overall Action
More in betweens added to ensure a smooth animation. All in betweens are
keyframed based on the same frame of the reference.
Figure 2.5 Polishing
b. Tweaks (Toes/Fingers)
According to each action, the tweaks controls on the toes are carefully
animate based on the following :
Tweaks keyframes done on toes when the character lifts its legs, when
about to lift or about to come in contact pose.
Lift & About to Lift - Positioned Dragging Down, a part that comes
after an action/movement
Contact Pose - Positioned "Pulled Up", a part that comes after an
action/movement

c. Expression
Expression keyframes throughout animation.

Week 14 - 23/07/2025
Action Animation
a.Arms/Wrist
According to the feedback, the start of the animation was not smooth and natural. Hence, minor arrangement and polishing done to achieve a smooth and natural outcome.

b. Graph Polishing
Once all the keyframing are completed, each part from head to toe is
carefully polished individually to achieve a smoother outcome.

FEEDBACK
Week 11 - 02/07/2025
Storyboard Sketch
- Second action to third action no continuation, can move forward the 3rd
scene to first then the next 2 action scene would be better.
Week 12 - 09/07/2025
Blocking
Week 13 - 16/07/2025
Polishing
So far all looks good, just add more key frames for the entire animation.
Week 14 - 23/07/2025
Animation
- Some parts arm and wrist a bit jerky, make sure to convert all graphs to
bezier and cleanup the graph.
First transition to next action a bit unnatural, can just cut off frames of
the character lifting the legs and straight into position then hold pose for
awhile.
Camera
- Camera needs a lot more work, try to cut down on the frame cuts and just
animate the camera because current positioning confuses people that there is
a missing scene and also hard to see the actions.
REFLECTION
Reflecting on my progression for this project, I would definitely
say I have gotten more familiar in 3D aniamtion as compared to when I
first started this module. Even though there were many exercises we have
done for this module so far, I believe this is just the beginning of
animation and I am looking forward to learn more and further enhance my
skills in 3D animation when working on future projects. Through this
project, I was able to apply the knowledge obtained in animation
fundamentals applying the anticipation and blocking method to keyframe
each pose in blender. Animating the entire project was a slight challenge for me
at the start as I could not get a certain part to look natural and
smooth but with the guidance of Mr Kamal, I was able to overcome my
challenges to complete this project.
